This is the best way to do it. Of course you wouldnt have a 2 way splitter on your meter. If you have this empty tap housing you can insert suspected dirty tap into this empty housing. Using your meter you can see exactly what noise is coming into the system. I usually pull the faceplate and install here. I then pull drops one by one to find the problem drop. Sometimes its more than one and sometimes its none. This is the best way to isolate down to the drop.
