As long as you have the APC going into the APC equipment and same for the UPC, you will not have a problem. An SC UPC at the patch panel will not cause a problem in this area. You may want to shoot the fiber and see if you have other high-loss issues. Try cleaning all connectors and verifying with a scope. APC connectors are a little trickier to clean than the UPC, so take care in the cleaning process. This will most likely solve your problems. More times than not, I find connectors that I swear people licked and put together.
