The reason you don't see the same amount of noise through a tap port is due to the isolation of ingress being suppressed through the circuitry of the tap. Not sure what you are trying to accomplish by looking for noise from a tap port??? Use a pin to F or SV-03 probe on the set screw. If you suspect the tap you are at has the ingress, probe the input and disconnect the drops until the noise goes away. Reconnect the others one at a time to ensure that no other drop has ingress as well. If you are using an SDA5000 enable your diplex filter. If you are using a DSAM or other type of meter or analyzer, you will need a F type diplex filter to block out the first video channel being reflected into the retrun path. Hope this helps?
