Keep getting those certs, but start looking into asterisk, and even better freeswitch as with all the open source development going on proprietary systems will become somewhat but not altogether limited.
Me I now work in a NOC for a national service provider that provides both VoIP and IT services. I do miss cable work, but I don't miss the royal screwing they hand out now.
