Re: old sa agc's


Best I can tell you, and some of this may be general knowledge so sorry if I may be "Captain Obvious" on some points. First and foremost ensure your pilot carriers are stable and analog, not digital, tuners in the AGC read the peak of the video carrier. Second, and this I got directly from SA, you need a 4 pad in the agc mod, I have never heard anything to the contrary. Also, you may have to check which pin connectors they are, but you can check dc voltage on the pin connectors in the lid, they should be 7-9Vdc from what I can remember some 25 years ago lol. And of course, depending on the series you are using, make sure you are at or above minimum inputs into the module. If not, the levels going to the AGC will not be correct and will cause the AGC to swing also.
Also, and again I am recalling from decades ago, make sure you set up your gain before the slope, just something i vaugely remember from the SA 1 training I got back in the 1980's.
