"it's sharp edge will vibrate over time and you'll end up scoring your tubes or breaking them open in the long run". The steel tube, not aluminum, is, your buffer tube. There is a small plastic tube that comes with your kit, cut it about 3" and slide over the fiber and into the steel tube about a 1.5", with a 1.5" sticking out. Place your shrink over the steel and the plastic tubes and shrink. Thus, creating a buffer between the steel edge and glass when transitioning fiber from tube to tray. What's a mid span cutter?
Polehopper, they make a tube straightener for opgw, that makes removing the steel tube a little easier. The tubing cutter is the only way to go, one cut, and slide off.
