We are splicing some aluminum core opgw fiber and I am having a hell of time getting the buffer tube off of the fibers its like the gel is solidified. I have tried d-gel,alcohol and such but that will only help after I have removed the buffer tube. As of now I am only able to remove about a 1/2" at a time. Also any tricks with the removal of the aluminum jackets would be great.
