Check any filters, if anything causes a delay or even a gain that varies with the frequency you will get linear distortion. Chances are it's a filter. Be sure you Turn off your sweep before you test, it could be that too.
Are you sure it's not a non-linear distortion ( a harmonic )? You can easily tell the difference by looking at your meter and doing your math. But anyone with a degree in "cable fucking t.v." would already know that. Wouldn't they?    Have a nice day.
