DirecTV has hiring freeze periods all the time, they only have a certain amount of in house techs they can have on the books at one time, that is why they have sub's, if you can't get on in house, find a contractor. As for the sunday ticket being free, thats nothing new either, for the past 2+ years they have been doing one of two things: Premier package free for a time period IF you order the sunday ticket, or free sunday ticket if you order the premier package, the money all comes out to the same.
