No such thing as Center Left and Center Right. It is Front Left, Center, Front Right, Left surround, Right Surround, Rear/Back Left Surround, Rear/Back Right Surround, Subwoofer. The newest additions are Subwoofer 2 (and sometimes 3), Wide Left, Wide Right, Height Left, Height Right which makes it a 11.2 (or .3) system.
In a a 6.1 system there is a REAR Center (the 6th monaural channel).
The Wide Left and Wide Right is available ONLY with processors that utilize Audyssey DSX along with amplifiers that are 9 channel discreet amps. Using the Wide feature means 5 speakers up front. The Wide speakers are placed on the outside of the Front Left and Front Right speakers.
Height Left and Height Right is available with EITHER Audyssey DSX OR Dolby Pro Logic IIz, which most all newest processors have incorporated. Using the Height feature means 3 speakers up front and 2 additional speakers hanging on the wall for a total of 5 front speakers.
Not saying this is what this thread is about (Surround Sound) however, seeing as how it has gravitated towards it, I thought I would clarify for those not familiar with it. Hope this helps some out.
