First day of boot camp the lead DI went through the formation and asked many of us what was our job going to be in the army. People answered, my job will be to fix trucks, my job will to cook, my job will be to fix radios. Just about everyone had a different answer. When he was done asking he informed us we were all wrong. He told us what our job was in no uncertain terms. "YOUR JOB IN THE ARMY IS TO KILL PEOPLE AND BREAK THINGS!!! EVERYTHING ELSE IS SECONDARY!"
I did not say anything about why people join the army or any other branch of the military. That is for love of country, love of free will, love of family and their freedoms.
But the primary reason any authority has a military is to defend what is theirs, or wage war, and the only way to do that is to KILL PEOPLE AND BREAK THINGS. Only after you kill enough people and break enough things do you win a war. There is no love in doing either. There is also no free will in doing either, you are given orders and you carry them out to the best of your ability. In war if you don't follow orders you can be executed. No free will there.
