Ummm I might be wrong on my math here, but that's 30 trillion a year, as bad as they are I don't believe your numbers are correct either? A flat tax would require all to pay the same, but it would need to have a salary requirement, you wouldn'e be able to justify someone making say, less than $20,000 a year to contribute, but i do agree it would generate more income across the board and would also stimulate spending, I would feel more comfortable spending if i had more to spend, The answer is NOT to gouge the middle class and keep giving exemptions to companies and allowing millionaires and billionaires to "hide assets in order to pay less then their share. Raising taxes on the middle class cuts their spending ability drastically, deepening the recession further, We need to come up with a "fair" tax generator that allows people to feel comfortable in their ability to purchase, that will NEVER happen if they keep hitting the middle class.
