billing codes beware

a word for prospective job seekers....do your homework on the companies you are trying to get work with...with all they are asking from you with background checks and certificatons you should at the very least be able to get something back...ask the company for a list of their billing codes and take  a look at what you are getting paid to do the work....one of the reasons these companies are constantly hiring is because people go out there and dont realize how much it costs to do the work and how much you are getting paid to do the job....your fuel insurance and wear and tear on your vehicle and your tools....my advice would be to ask for a copy of their billing codes and some sort of explanation of what can be charged and what cant....but if you hire on to a company that pays 3 bucks to do disconnects and most of them are in an aerial plant i would think twice about doing that....if you go to work for a company that will help you out with gas money and wants to make a profit off of that....or they charge you for shirts ....those are warning signs you are going to work for scumbags.....and for all of this you get 40 percent of the money that the cable company pays the general contractor that you work for.....and they get 60 percent or more.....and dont forget the new guy in the shop gets the crapiest jobs and the guy with seniority gets the gravy route...thats why these companies cant retain help and are constantly hiring....because anybody that has a clue about this business will realize they are getting a crappy route while the other guy with seniority gets the close to home 300 buck route.....but one thing is for sure that after your fuel and the time it takes to locate a job and then the ped to disconnect service you wont make any money at 3 bucks a shot....10 years ago i got 6 bucks for doing a disconnect and gas was 165 a gallon and now they are paying 3 bucks and gas is 4 bucks a gallon....do the math on that....oh and never work for a company that has a lazy brother inlaw of the owner that gets paid a salary for routing 3 techs and wont even answer his phone if you have a question .....those 3 techs have to pay for his salary and the owners salary and neither of those two do anything.....thats 3 workers and 2 bosses?
