I can sum up the reason why the cable industry is going down hill fast and decent installers are hard to find now.
1. The pay isnt worth shit. Even as a in-house tech. They run the shit out of you and give you a $.10-$.15 raise.
2. You get absolutly no respect. Doesnt matter how long you have been doing it and no matter how good you are. You run around trying to get everthing done to schedule and doing sales. You are by far more busy than service techs and maintenence techs. And you are the little guy on the pole. Plus, even as a new guy. Everybody wants to show how much they think they know instead of weeding out and actually training them.
3. Alot of promises and NOBODY follows through.
4.What you have to go through just to get a install done is a turn off.
5. Sick ass charge backs from guys that has never done a install. But, they know what it should look like.
6. shit pay
7. shit pay
8. shit pay
9. shit pay
10. shit pay
This is coming from somebody that worked up through the ranks and seen it.
