Yes,
I still have this paper awarding me my money...........no money because, as you correctly point out...if it ain't there it ain't there.

I have friends that I have known for fifty years and trust. They would not ask to borrow a few thousand bucks. But there  are start up companies asking to "borrow" thousands of dollars until they can pay you.

Ya just gotta know who is going to pay & when.
