One would do well to allow the Spirit to transform their life, that those fruits become part of who they are, but also remember, becoming a Christian doesn't mean instant perfection, nor will all trouble disappear. We still have a sin nature, and live in a fallen world, so will inevitably continue to battle sin in our life, and face trials and tribulation till the day we die. It seems non-believers tend to think that if a Christian stumbles, they aren't a Christian. That is just the ignorance of not having a clue what it is all about, yet that is what makes it so important to not be a stumbling block to those who would reject God because of hypocrisy on our part. I have been guilty of it in the past, and guarantee I'll stumble in the future. I can only do my best, rest in the Lord, walk by faith, and do a whole lot of praying for a transformation to a Christ "likeness" that allows the fruits of the Spirit to be manifested. I did "my" best to not sound hateful in prior posts, but pride, which is the very root of sin, tends to get the best of me when confronted with someone wanting to break bad at my expense. I guess it would sound much better if I just extended an invitation for a "sporting" event of good 'ol bare knuckle boxing to relieve the tension brought about by pride wanting to exhibit who is tougher, allowing the person with the better skills to temporarily shut the pie hole of the other one. I choose not to drink anymore, but afterwards the two of us can enjoy a cold beverage of choice, and laugh it off, agreeing to be able to disagree without allowing the hate to build up. Does that sound at least a tad bit more civilized, or does that still constitute being a heathen?
