I have to agree with you there, cablemn86, much as I hate to say it. There are MANY out there with an agenda to line their own pockets and feed off the sincere intentions of those who give from the heart to help those in need. I do believe we need to take an active part in paying attention to business reports and where our money is being used, but ultimately, if I give from the heart, whether or not the money is misused or abused, I feel God knows my heart, my intentions, and blesses the giver and deals with those who sinfully take money that is offered to further His kingdom, whether it be to help in church ministries, feed the poor, help the needy who have fallen on bad times, etc. I sponsor a child, through Holt International, and I can't say for 100% sure that they are doing exactly what they should, but they do give enough feed back to make me feel that it is helping the child I sponsor. Point is, as many as there are that take advantage of other people's giving, there are many times more that actually make good use of the resources given them to minister to the needs of others.
