Secondly, it it obvious that you have no clue as to how most local churches are organized. (Nothing to do with Organized religion, as you call it.)
Most churches operate just as a business. They vote on, and appoint an accountant to manage all funds.
The disbursement of funds for basic needs, such as mortgage payment, insurance, utilities and pastors salary (if any) are determined by the appointed church council.
Anything outside of basic needs of the church (including the amount of the pastors salary, if any) is then voted on and decided in the church business meeting where EVERY church member is invited and encouraged to attend and participate in voting.
All financial information is available to everyone, such as money collected the past week and "year to date" The balance of church mortgage (if any) The amount of current utilities. Disbursement of ALL funds (such as missionary support) and even the balance of the churches bank account.
If you really think that all churches just "pass the plate" and the pastor puts it in his pocket (bank) you are sadly mistaken. The pastor has no authority, or access to ANY money other than his salary.
