Re: TCI/Jones Intercable

I also remember back in the mid-1980's United had the franchise for Artesia, CA just north of Lakewood and Long Beach. It took FOREVER for them to do that build. Not sure if United built it or sold the franchise rights to another company. I believe now all Southern California is either Time-Warner or Comcast.

Back then the BIG contractors were Cable Crafters (Wayne Klem was the owner) and Can Am. Shenck had quite a big presence there too. Revo Fernandus left Cable Crafters to start his own company. Another company was Hayes Construction (Terry Hays owner) that came from old Paragon ATC people.

I remember Wayne Klem telling me that he NEVER had to leave LA and Orange County because there was SO MUCH work to be done.

Worked with an old contractor for Can Am, George Cole, who spliced all of Diamond Head in the day. Lost contact with him and hope he is well.
