Yes Jason. most religions back then believed in many gods. The first religion before Aristotle that was a monotheistic (one God) religion was Judaism (second was Islam). And it was spreading in his time. Thats why he tried to use physics to disprove a God and he couldn't. In fact it back fired on him. He had to admit there is one God. It had to do with his studies and thoughts on matter and motion. It's in his writtings I think it was book IV. I may be wrong on the book # but you can look it up. Try and google Aristotle on religion ( if you don't feel like reading the book).
