I've seen that Ken Burns documentary 3 times and always find something new. I grew up about 30 miles north of Gettysburg and know that area well. Now I live about 5 miles from Manassas and I'm starting to learn more about the first and second battles that were fought here.
My father also served in the Philippines, he was captured on Corregidor and spent 39 months as a POW. He didn't talk much about it until the last few years of his life, and then it was only bits and pieces. During my trips to PI I went to Corregidor several times and toured the place. Man if that place could talk, just the feel of the place made the hair on my neck stand up.
