The 125 feet is a technical magic number. It is not just the cost of extra cable. At some point beyond 125 feet the system will not work. If the tech reaches that point he will not be paid so rather than take that chance he moved on to the next project.
The other consideration is avoiding the activation of a system that will always be a technical problem. Once installed Directv will have to keep it running even if it exceeds what they would normally offer as a complete system. Try a time and materials deal with a retailer to see what is possible.
