I'm a history fan also. One of my cousins was a marine in the south pacific in WWII. He's 91 and has a great memory. I enjoy talking with him. He island hopped all around. He's the oldest cousin of my generation and I'm the youngest, 35 years age difference.
I was stationed on Attu in 1974 at the Loran station. Had a great time there. Isolated but still a good year. There was still a lot of junk left there from the war. A lot of lives lost on both sides.
