With all that is progressing in the telecoms world, I say this because its you just can't say cable anymore, "The times they are a changin" Good for some, bad for the rest. One of the local cable providers has announced they are looking at their future as an inter net provider only. Its nice to see someone at least lean towards the truth. I think...this is ONE of the transitions of the cable companies we once knew. I also think..this is just another parting of the ways for the need for hard-line for residential and small business. The mainline, backbone intrastructure has to be fiber, for a while, until wireless completely takes control. In that interim, fiber is going to expand to places wireless can't transmit. This is going to be a blanket of communication. This is fiber jobs.
Residential and small business are, for a while, going to need replacement of coax by cat 5 or higher grade wiring, theres an opportunity for us here. This is installation jobs.
As these progressions occur, someone has to maintain these systems. Technical Ops jobs.
Like most of the you, I have been in this too long. But we have to keep looking for the next opportunity.
I want to see what kind of response I could get from everyone!
