The guy that taught me to climb always told me it does not matter how fast you go up and down the pole as long as you can get up to the work, complete the job and come down safely. Speed comes with practice, practice comes by doing our job. Was a bit shaky at the start but by the end of the first day I thought I was doing good. Then the second day I had to buy a case of beer cause my boss jumped ahead of me 4 times, said he was taking it easy on me the first day. Third day I had to buy another case because damn if he didn't jump ahead of me again. That was the last time I bought beer nobody got ahead of me after that. I had to get faster at climbing so I wouldn't go broke buying beer.
