As far as respect for one's country the same can be said for the Japanese. Earthquake and Tsunami wipe out a area as big as Katrina did and there was no looting, no shootings, nothing of the kind. People waited in lines for hours just to get water, once again no fights, no one cutting in line, no bitching about the government not doing enough to help.

You are right the states have become a land of give me everything why should I work for it. This attitude is mainly adopted by the people that are born and raised here. That is not to say that some illegal immigrants aren't here for the same reason.  But it's not until the people grow the balls to say the government can't do everything for everyone, you are not entitled to anything you did not, are unwilling to work for, get rid of quotas and let the most qualified person get the job, make lobbying illegal, and put government on a real budget, not one where they can vote to raise the debt ceiling. I would also add term limits, congress not be able to vote them self pay raises and make everyone serve the country for 3 years after they graduate high school or collage, be it in the military or some other way.

But none of that will ever come because too many people will cry it's not fair...whoever said life was?
