Here is how it can go,
A friend who was a Directv contractor at the time did an installation. As he was packing at the end the four year old kid let the dog out. The dog bit him bad enough he could not work, needed stitches and then surgery to fix his hand and arm.
The customer had no money or homeowner insurance as renters. He was not an employee so there was no workman's compensation insurance. He ended up eating a sixteen thousand dollar emergency room bill. He was out of work for two weeks and returned before the doctors recommended.
So by all means....do go get bit! But do get a written order from who ever thinks it is important to git 'er done. It will give the lawyers something to chew on. Consider seeing if your manager will call the customer and report the service call has been canceled because you have not been allowed access due the dog.
If they just back charge you and try to send someone else you will know something about your current situation.
If you go.....take dog spray,,,be safe.
