I feel your pain and respect the situation you are in with a family. Even though you are stuck now try this.

Do look around for another gig. But keep good records. When you are ready to move also have a file ready for small claims court. Every state is different and a local lawyer is a better guide on this than I am. It could be that they have misclassified you an an employee when paying you as a contractor...and stealing some of that money.

Try a Google search using the name of your employer + lawsuit + your state. Add Directv. See what you find.

Somewhere, some manager is considering himself to be doing a good job because his numbers are real good.  He has been back charging his techs to balance the books. I still remember the laugh from a Directv wonk in contractor relations as he explained that Directv did not involve itself in subcontractor disputes. He hung up when I asked for his name and extension.

There was a time when you just went to work. This sucks!
