Since you asked John I'll let you in on something and then maybe you can answer your own question.
A Buddhist is one who strives to cultivate the factors of awakening, namely, wisdom, courage, concentration, mindfullness, inner joy, mental and emotional flexibility, equanimity, faith, right resolve, and good moral habit. They strive to remove themselves from folly, cowardice, distraction, negligence, favoritism and dispair. Now your right John a Buddhist can have a sense of humor, but more important to them than the laughter, is asking themselves WHY a situation, or a wisecrack, or a satirical piece made them laugh. So maybe you should ask yourself which of the above was it for you?
