I've seen far worse examples of a hack job than that. Actually, it looks like a pretty clean cut.
When one considers the joke compression fittings really are - in that their design is to effect coax's jacket as little as possible, therefor maintaining perfect electrical integrity - but everywhere else but that fitting we find crimps and bends in a home installation which actually do effect that (theoretical) integrity, what's the friggin point? If I were the tech op for a smaller, budgeted system would I be paying 2, 3, 4 times more for compression fittings?
no chance in hell.
There's nothing wrong with that fitting.
