Re: Deuteronomy 21:18-21

It shows just how serious God takes sin. It was meant to be a deterrant, and I am pretty sure it probably worked well too. I bet kids were much better behaved. The end of the verse says the purpose was to keep evil from among the people. All I can say is it is a good thing I don't live under the mosaic law, and that Christ was the finish to the law. Salvation is not through the law, never was, as no man could keep to evey letter of the law. People think the ten commandments are it, but there are over 600 laws. The commandments are still a guideline for us to live in a way that we do not suffer the consequences that such actions bring. Think about it. How does breaking any one of them affect others? I'd say God abhores sin because of what sin does and it's effect on His creation.
