Back in the day if you worked for a ma and pa system you fixed how ever you could because getting and actual splice took and act of congress. aluminum foil, soda cans, cigarette wrapper, strap, you get the picture. You had to do what it took to make it work at the most distant amp work. Remember most of these systems were family owned before the big boys bought them out. they made payroll but that was about it for working expense.
