Dug up some 500 once that someone had fixed by taping to pieces of wire coat-hanger to the center conductor, slid a piece of rubber hose over it with a hose clamp at each end then wrapped the whole thing with foil and tape. Then buried the whole thing. I have no idea how long it was like that but it was a 100 micro volt leak until I dug it up then it pegged the meeter. Good thing it only fed a 2 port 8 tap.
