Re: Workmen's Comp Costs

Avoid the one where the subcontractor offers to deduct 10% of your gross checks for WC. I asked for a certificate with me listed (should be EZ & FREE). He told me it costs too much but to trust him. He also left town with $500.00 of my last invoices.

Also...is this for you personally or to cover employees?

Now you understand why nobody wants employees and everybody is a contractor. + IF you do work outside the listed scope of  coverage and  you or an employee is injured you are screwed. YOU could pay triple...varies from state to state. In some states you, as an employer, are not covered by the policy....but if you are an independent operator you could be forced to get a policy to cover nobody.............. (MD) for example.
