I believe you are right that you do learn more from your mistakes. I try to tell all my tech something i have learn or screwed up for everyones benefit . Chances are if they know how i screwed up they may not make the same mistake. But to help some one learn the same job makes you more valuable if you are good at your job and reliable and now a lead. Sounds like management to me. Why not try to better your self ?
