I have resolved a similar situation....RE the TV.........if the TV remote no longer works pursue , or let the customer persue, TV maintainace through the TV support system because it is a TV problem.
Most new receivers are shipped without cables. The idea is that in-house or HSP techs will be supplied with any jumpers that are required. This had been a huge waste issue and they are finally getting around to saving a few bucks. HDMI cable costs got their attention!
Where is this box going????...for your use?...a customer? Someone has to come up with jumpers and tech knowledge on the TV. The Directv box could be defective but I cannot say from your summary.
