I take it you are referring to forward only. Could be wrong cause return is referenced at node and that reference is carried through out that node to maintain unity gain. Forward, I have done it both ways. Reference at the node after correct or close to correct levels are set, go to the first active on that leg and use node reference to verify no problems exsist. Then set that active to correct levels and rereference. Have used node reference to sweep too. The correct way to sweep the system is decided by that system. They are the ones that set the specs on how they want it done and they should be set down in writing telling you what spec is, n over ? plus ?, how they want you to reference & sweep, etc., etc.. Now you might find issues sweeping the way they say and you can show them what you are seeing in the field with their way & recommend another way based on your experience, but as I said, they (system) make the decision. Remember, it is their plant.
