It depends if you can get the desired tilt at the node. It also depends if the node has good test points. I've seen nodes that have crappy test points, so you get a lousy reference. We're currently working in a plant where you just can't get the correct tilt at the node. Hard to sweep a node with a 12 db tilt if the node is running out with a tilt of 9 db. So you sweep the first spacing with a node reference using tilt comp, and then re-reference from the first active on each leg with the correct tilt and sweep the rest of that leg with that reference.
