Gather around little Newbie and I will explain it,
In the beginning DirecTV had a fine world beating product but nobody to install the equipment. Wise executives determined that they were in the entertainment business, selling TV signals in competition with over the air broadcasters (OTA) and CATV (cable) companies. So they found contractors to install the equipment.
SKIPPING THE MIDDLE STUFF.
Now that these installation contractors, including their own Home Service Provider (HSP) network, has been caught, sued & convicted of various forms of fraud in almost every state to the extent that few techs who are aware of the situation will work for them, now, those same executives are making nice with the screwed & cheated personel. DirecTV is becomming an Owner Operator.
Gone are the bad old days. Contractor arrangements are being dropped. DirecTV is now the man!
Install DirecTV and be a DirecTV employee.
