Another thing to keep in mind (that most do not consider) is that if you purchase the cable system, you ALSO purchase any bad debts that are owed to the programmers (and others) and the responsibility to make restitution as was due by the previous owners.
Investigating the past is your best option prior to any sale agreement. Just make sure you are not buying someone's financial nightmare.
