You are right about keeping records. But that is not your customer, and by them signing the work order in no way releases you from poor workmanship nor does it release the co. from future damages caused by poor workmanship (water, ect.) Thats why jobs are QC'd.  If you do the job right, and it meets your customers ( the companys) approval then you should not have any problem getting payed your piece rate.
