Good point,
Branding is everything, certain dress code and apper is needed to maintain that Brand. Even as us so called contractors we are held to if not forced to wear the company logo shirt, company ID badge and to some extend hide the tats and earrings, Now I had the pleasure and about 200 other guys to work for the most ruthless manager every shit out of the owners ass. If he even scene your shirt not tucked in at the shop, your ass was diggin for a week. Let alone an ear-ring. It was those who showed up at the crack of dawn who avioded his wrath of god. But the only thing I liked about him was he was fare to some extend when you had issues. We had guys with station wagons with ladders tied, if you can carry a 24ft your hired. But it was only when brass from the MSO showed up or the hint of them stopping bye all the misfits were quickly sent on there way. Those with long hair are told to tie it up, beards trimmed etc. Its personal apper.
For the contracting companies it is all about the money, not the MSO's brand image that matters. Everytime I watch a commerical for the MSO I laugh and think of a Sat Night Skitt I can write to mirror how it really is. We were out and the bar tenders said a cable guy showed up and she was scared shitless to let him in, he drove a beat up truck, wearing torn up kakki shorts and a nasty Knight shirt, he was rude and in a hurry. I asked what kind of truck and what he looked like. I knew this guy, hes there best tech. He just doesnt care anymore, even the customer was saying when she asked how he liked his job, he said... It sucks.... Chargebacks for this and that I cant leave this or ill get charged back. She called her husband to some home and make sure she was safe.
She was really scared and disappointed, but did not call to complain, she felt sorry for him.
