Thanks! I'm just trying to understand the whole relationship piece as I have heard it from both sides. To me it seems too easy to blame the HSP for the poor management practices of some of the sub contracting companies out there. From some of the other chatter about MasTec being a publicly traded company and that the investors are going to be pissed is particularly interesting to me. I would think that investors would be more pissed if MasTec "forgave' sub contracting companies for the debts they incurred as a result of their mismanagement. In many ways I think that the outlook for some of the individuals who have posted things here see MasTec more as a charity and not a business. The misconception seems to be that since MasTec is so large that a thousand $ here and a hundred $ there won’t' have that much of an impact. Basic economics would say otherwise.
I honestly do not think that if MasTec truly had questionable business practices that DirecTV would keep them around; particularly concerning “Mystery” chargeback’s. Unfortunately experience has shown me that we truly are responsible for our own actions and the choices we make. For some of us we make the wrong choice when choosing an employer, others because of their inability to take responsibility for their own actions, and the choices made in life regarding education, skill sets, and criminal records that severely limit opportunities available. This of course does not absolve the sub contracting company from guilt or responsibility for not paying technician’s monies owed to them. I guess I’ll make sure and sign a contract next time with whoever I go work for to make sure that I have something to go to court with if I find myself in this type of predicament again.
