Re: Internet trouble

The basics for everyone is put a DC6/9 off the drop and problem solved for the time being...  But its not fixing the problem.  Sure you can find the radioshack fitting, or replace the groundblock, change fittings at the tap.  But it all boils down to levels, SNR, Transmitt levels.  What about all those open outlets bleedin engress.

Engress kills Quam and Modems all the time.  One lose fitting in the attic or splice on a drop creates modems and digital tiling.  Im sure more trouble calls are going to be at that house for modem offline.

But we havent touched on the plant ether.  So many things can knock a modem offline.  It just goes to show after all this NC Jones requirements only a few people in this thread asked about levels?

Basics was fine back in the Leg modem days when they worked with hammered levels.  But the spectrum is so tight for Docis 2/3 that its the mosts important part of installing the modem. Just my 2 cents
