OTDR Question

I have an older 2001 Wavetech MTSe 5100 OTDR.  This unit has a floppy drive and a RS232 9 pin serial port for transfering files.  My question is what kind of software is available for viewing trace files on a PC?  And does anyone have experience transfering files via the serial port?  I think an ethernet cable similar to the SDA 5000 download cord is required.  For this proceedure, is WS_FTP sofware required?  Since modern computers don't use floppy drives and the floppy's are hard to find, what's the alternative for sharing files with the client.
