Yes it does. But as a stand alone player it doesn't do as good as the LG for blu-ray playback. I just bought a Sony DVD recorder from Sony for a fantastic price but beyond deals like that, I tend to shy away from Sony, hence my passion for HD DVD (2 players & 300+ discs) as I feel you pay for a name anymore. Sony is not the same Sony we grew up with. Neither is Gold Star. Remember them? They are now LG if you can believe it. I also won't consider Samsung. Can't stand 'em.
