the hr24 and h24 needs bbands. whenevr you install a directv receiver as soon as you pick the correct dish it will tell you right on the screen if it needs bbandsor not. That is never wrong so if you follow that you're good. What you may be confused with is the 24's dont need deca adapters for a deca job . they are built in and the only models that are.
