Some do it during the application process. This is so they can do proper background checks and make sure that I/you am/are Joe Smith cable guy no Joe Smith pedephile..Charter and Time Warner both run a pretty stringent check through Crimsheild.. If its a "new" or unknown company be leary but if its a company that you know or that has a solid rep then you are probably are ok..
