HA!! Sub for Cox and you get $3 per point. After operating expenses you might be able to give your techs $1.25/point. HSI installs are 15 points, Tele-installs are 17 points, Home Networking a whole 7 points. They also started this new "Home Certification" Test that will poll all equipment at customer premise and give you a pass or fail depending on the returned specs. The tech is responsible for fixing anything that fails. So if your tech rolls out to do a phone install he is also responsible for that HD/DVR that the customer self installed a week ago on a RG-59 outlet with a 500 mHz splitter behind the wall plate. Techs went from making $1200-$1500 a week and home by 5 pm, to $700-$900 a week and home by 7 pm. Twice the work for half the pay. Cox has also made drastic cuts to in-house support staff. You would think a company like Cox would try to keep good installers by offering top dollar, especially in an area where the competitor is finally rolling out U-Verse. In short...if you want to starve sign on with Cox.
