That is all very true. However in the cable business, they supply materials, so you are not getting ripped (as an installer) there.
You know, the funny thing about this all is that the employee handbook for Suddenlink states that if there is a relationship that is causing conflict or a hostile workplace, that management will take steps to resolve it. It looks to me like management is working on taking steps to push this all under the rug.
